Elevated Student Living: Designing Distinctive Campus-Adjacent Communities
As demand for high-quality student housing continues to rise, this session explores how campus-adjacent developments can create both elevated living environments and a strong sense of place. In response to a defining trend in student housing and the rise of large-scale developments, with many housing more than 1,500 students, new developments maximize efficiency, allowing for premium amenities while keeping rental costs competitive. Larger projects also offer better cost distribution and the ability to include high-value features focused on wellness, such as rooftop lounges, basketball courts, spas, and collaborative workspaces.
Modern student housing is no longer just about providing beds; it’s about cultivating vibrant communities. Developments are integrating mixed-use elements to create dynamic environments where students can live, study, and engage with their surroundings.
Through compelling case studies, including the under-construction Hub Fullerton, which will provide over 1,200 beds to nearby Cal State Fullerton and several other universities, the multidisciplinary panel—including a developer, architect, contractor, and finance partner—will share how they’ve successfully delivered transformative projects that meet student needs and integrate seamlessly with the surrounding campus community.
