Race Forward is hosting a session featuring two local housing departments addressing the root causes of the U.S. housing crisis by using a racial equity framework to reform policies and practices that work better for all. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the historical context and systemic issues that lead to housing insecurity and displacement, particularly in communities of color. Through a national framework and local case studies, the session will delve into best practices for applying a systemic analysis to housing policy, inclusive community engagement, and equitable housing development. Interactive exercises will lead participants to practical insights into fostering agency commitment to racial equity and partnering with communities most impacted by systemic racism. The session will also emphasize the importance of clear policy guidance and accountability measures when implementing equitable funding.
